Abu Dhabi is the second most populous and capital the city of the UAE. Abu Dhabi rests on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf. Beneath white-marble domes, the vast Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque features an immense Persian carpet, crystal chandeliers, and capacity for 41,000 worshipers. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the major sightseeing attraction and wows all who visit. But the city also makes a good base for excursions to the desert landscapes of Liwa Oasis and the oasis city of Al Ain.
